About Your Appointment

Initial Consultation + First Treatment*
This includes full case history (symptoms, general health, previous medical history, lifestyle), relevant testing and examination (orthopaedic and neurological if necessary), establishing a treatment plan and your first treatment. Due ti Covid-19 compliance - this will now take place over the phone (lasting approx 30 minutes). Assessment will be made in clinic alongside your first treatment (which will take 40 minutes). It is helpful if you can bring any relevant medical information with you (e.g. details of medication, previous treatments, any x-rays or MRI reports if available).

Any treatment will only proceed once a clinical assessment has taken place in accordance with General Chiropractic Council's Code of Practice and with your consent. On rare occasions, treatment may not be appropriate.

Subsequent Treatments *
Follow-up treatments will be shorter (40 mins) and will work on resolving any misalignments and restoring balance and function in accordance with your treatment plan.

* Referral: Chiropractors have broad diagnostic skills and if your chiropractor feels your problem is not suitable for chiropractic care or needs further investigation, they will liaise with your GP and other health care providers to arrange an appropriate referral, as long as you provide your permission to do so.

Treatment reactions
You may feel different, particularly after your first treatment. It is normal to feel any of the following during the 48 hours after a session and are signs that your body is responding to treatment:
  • Muscle stiffness or soreness
  • Tiredness
  • Headaches
  • Feeling emotional and especially sensitive
  • Dizziness and light-headedness
  • Changes in your menstrual cycle

Equally you may feel none of the above and just better! If you are concerned at all about how you are feeling, please contact the clinic so we can discuss.
