Sports & Remedial Massage

Sports and Remedial Massage is a form of manual technique which works on the soft tissues (e.g. muscles, ligaments and tendons) of the body.  Increasingly the term 'Soft tissue Therapy' is being used to better describe the assessment, treatment and management of pain, injury and dysfunction of the soft tissues.

These soft tissues are the muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia which make up the soft connective tissue that binds us all together!

Sports Massage may have particular benefits for Sports people at any level and those engaged in regular exercise. Massage patients report that it can help prepare the body for a sporting event and aid recovery. Regular treatment can potentially become an important part of a training regime.


Sports massage techniques may work deeply on the soft tissues, breaking down any tightness or scar tissue, improving circulation and increasing flexibility. For this reason, these techniques may also be relevant as a method of releasing stress and tension held in the body.

Equally, Sports Massage techniques may be used to help dissipate the effects of tension and stress in the body perhaps caused by poor posture, compensations from previous injury or lifestyle factors such as frequent driving or heavy computer use.

I have worked with sports people including runners, cyclists, hikers, footballers, swimmers, gym goers as well as rugby players, horse-riders, golfers. I have also seen how massage can help benefit those who frequently hold their body in certain positions as musicians, artists, dancers, chefs, tradespeople and most often office based computer users.
